a movie you should see : frances ha

Sunday, July 21, 2013

in all seriousness, you should stop whatever you're doing and go see frances ha.
if you ask me, nowadays good movies are even harder to find than a good pair of jeans (which is really saying something, because we all know that jean shopping is the worst). but this was a real find. a little sparkly, black-and-white diamond in the rough.

to all my fellow twenty-something (or thirty or forty-something) gals out there: if the only things in life you're really sure of right now are who your best friend is, what type of wine you like, and how badly you'd like to leave your day job behind, then this movie is for you. it's awkward and funny and honest in all the best ways.

here's the trailer. and hey! rotten tomatoes even gave it a 91%.

  4. Thank you! This is just what I need, a good, lighthearted comedy and I was running up short on ideas so I appreciated this a lot, thank you. :)

On a side note, totally thought that was Heidi Montag when I looked at that picture. ha! I was going to be like huh?

    1. HA! She kind of does look like Heidi Montag from that angle. Thank goodness it isn't, though. I'm not sure the movie would have had the same amount of charm ;)

  5. OMG! This movie reminds me of another movie with Greta Gerwig called Damsels in Distress. You can read more about that movie at my blog if you'd like / http://blog.abbyabbyabby.com/2012/09/damsels-in-distress/

Anyway, now I MUST see this one too. It looks great <3

    1. Ha! I'm happy to help. ;)

I did in fact see this in theaters. There is a tiny art cinema in my town that mostly plays documentaries and small art films like this one (however, I also saw The Great Gatsby there, so I guess you never know). The theater room I saw Fraces in only had 12 seats. Hehe.

  7. I'm hanging to see this - but it doesn't hit cinemas in my end of the world until mid-August! Excited to know you enjoyed it - I saw the trailer and put it straight on my list of movies to see! xx
