(not featured in this photo: the biggest bowl of oatmeal you've ever seen)

Wondering: Is any self-respecting adult as excited for Despicable Me 2 as I am?

Making: endless amounts of oatmeal. Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day (ask anyone, they'll tell you). And unlike most people I know who need at least an hour in the morning before they're ready for breakfast, I'm hungry the minute I wake up. I go through lots of breakfast phases. Sometimes it's cereal (this is my personal favorite). Sometimes it's yogurt (if you haven't tried this kind, you need to). My latest breakfast craze has been oatmeal. Every morning! Right now, I have two favorite concoctions: 1) oatmeal + bananas + peanut butter + cinnamon, and 2) oatmeal + walnuts + cranberries + blueberries. Really, you can't go wrong.

Listening: to Holley Maher. Her music is perfect for a lazy, whimsical kind of day (trust me). You can check out her blog here, and listen to my favorite of her songs, 'Hiding Place' right here

Taking: my time. There is something so deliciously lazy about the summertime. Know what I mean? My responsibilities are the same as they were a week ago, but somehow everything just seems to slow down once June rolls around. I'm not rushing around or racing out the door or juggling eight million things at once (not yet, anyways!). Yesterday I had a few hours left before work and instead of trying to cram in a bunch of chores and errands before I left, I spent two glorious hours on the couch, watching Juno. I can't remember the last time I watched a movie in the middle of the afternoon, so it felt like a pretty big deal. Hehe.

(featured above: the best breakfast sandwich ever, probably the best combination of breakfast specials ever, and according to my gluten-free-friends, the best gluten-free muffins ever)

Lately I've been:

Wondering: about the summer. It recently dawned on me that I probably won't have anymore "free" summers. Do you remember those? - those summers when you didn't have to work or go to school or think or do anything besides play in the sun? I started pouting about this the other day and J had to kindly remind me that, no Heather, you are in fact not a child anymore. But I don't want to grow up yet! I'm not ready! Anyhow. I can't wait for summertime (even if school and work have to be involved).

Making: lists of the places I want to explore once we get back to New York (can you tell I'm getting a little obsessed?). Like I mentioned in this post, NYC seems to be everywhere I turn so I figured I should start keeping track of all the different spots I want to see someday. (Also - I really like this print, would love to be able to check out this installation, and would seriously love to take one of these cooking classes)

Listening: to a lot of Amos Lee, Youth Lagoon, and Norah Jones. I'm in the midst of midterms (woohooo!), so these are my go-to Pandora stations for studying and essay-writing.

Taking: the time to write letters. By now, you know how much I love anything handwritten so I've been making more of an effort to be the one doing the actual writing. I only have a few cards left from this collection so I have to be very selective about who to send them to!
